  1. i can recommend rhode island hospital as a place to work to.benefits, work opportunities and pay are all great.i can say it is a city compared to where i came from in nc.goodluck!
  2. i moved here in ri from nc 2 yrs ago.i have more than 12 years nursing experience and base salary in rhode island hospital is almost $35.$2/hr night differential and $3.50/hr weekend differential.health insurance is affordable and really good.me and my kid had surgery.never paid anything.work opportunities as well as pay especially if you do an overtime(8 hrs over your scheduled 8 hrs is paid double) is super great.i love my job here.i am just not so happy with the weather(long winter).houses are also expensive.you need to have a minimum of $250,000 to get a decent house in a fairly good neighborhood(with good school system). maybe, you can't really get everything.goodluck,anyway...
  3. pay really depends on your years of experience.i have more than 10 years experience in the philippines and i am on my fifth year here in the us.i am paid in accordance to 15 years experience.i work with some american graduate nurses and they get the starting pay.
  4. hi christine!i want to ask you about the grad program in psych that uri offers.i have been aiming to pursue master's degree. i am currently working in a psych unit and i would really prefer to advance my studies in this field.how many credits/units is it all in all for the whole program?what are the usual jobs you can get after the program?thanks in advance
  5. i graduated in makati medical center batch 1992
  6. go to where your heart says not your head and you will be a happy, contented RN.
  7. as you work longer in ED, you recognize who they are.they know the ins and outs better than you do if you're new.
  8. i used Saunders Q & A and NSNA.they helped me a lot in passing NCLEX.
  9. i have a friend.she took the nclex with 265 questions and failed.2nd try,265 questions and passed.congratulations to you!
  10. Q & A of Saunders is very good.It helped me a lot when i took the nclex.just stay focused, apply all the lessons learned and you will make it.goodluck!
  11. GOOD AND COMPLETE DOCUMENTATION.It would always save you from something.
  12. for me, i would recommend nursing.i was undecided on what to take before when i was to go to college.i love numbers but when my parents advised me to take nursing because of career opportunities, i followed them.they said if i won't like it,i could switch course anytime i want to.i had good friends when i was in college so i was encouraged to continue and just study until BSN is done.i would always say i am forever thankful to them because if not with nursing, i wouldn't be able to bring my family here in us(we are from asia) and we won't be able to provide a brighter future for our kids.talking about STABILITY and FUTURE.
  13. i believe you did the right thing.kids grow very fast and before you realize it,they don't need you no more compared to when they're young and all they wanted is to cling to you.take advantage of it.i am also a mom of 2 boys, 8 and 5.i work nights but i still get the chance to spend quality time with them.i just love it!
  14. it is ok.things happen in time.i was able to pass on my 2nd take but you know what is the secret, FOCUS!when i took it the first time,i knew about how to prioritize(ABC) when i was reviewing but it seemed like i got distracted when i was taking it already to the point wherein i got confused on which pt. to go to 1st.you also tried to convince them that you can make it because you have gone too far with the questions.there may just be an area that you need to focus on and correct.i have gone over 200 also and i knew my mistake was the prioritizing.during my 2nd take,i learned my lesson and didn't allow myself to be confused again.just ABC and it shut down to 75.i know you can make it because you have gone far.goodluck!
  15. :balloons: congratulations for a job well done:balloons:
  16. when i first came here in the us,i was not wearing my wedding band at work.they were asking me if i am really married.so a wedding ring or band is an indication in the hospital where i used to work if you are available or not.since then on,i wore my wedding band.
  17. i think it is the medication.always remember to do all the rights in giving meds.
  18. saunder's q & a and nsna helped me a lot.goodluck!
  19. i salute you with your views.it's true, things happen in His time, everything happens with a reason and that you are still blessed.can't you see,you are a better and stronger person now?goodluck!
  20. 1.before coming in,say a little prayer.2.good,accurate,comprehensive documentation.3.remember to do all the rights in giving meds.4.try the best way you can to be cool even if the environment is stressful because the more you commit an error.
  21. hospital orientation is 4 weeks.unit orientation is 2 weeks but may vary.
  22. :balloons: congratulations and goodluck,LVN!
  23. employers really need your references.they would either call or send a letter to be filled up by the reference containing evaluation of your work.
  24. i didn't encounter any nclex question similar to my review.although i can proudly say that saunder's and nsna had prepared me a lot in the critical thinking and the kind of approach i would use for my exam.goodluck!
  25. :balloons: congratulations for a job well done!:balloons:
