  1. HeartbrokenBabyNurse--Your response to Emergent did sound like a what a high school person would say--You need to ,learn responsibility and accountability and your life will become easier. Put your best foot forward and realize you messed up---Now is the time to move forward with a better perspective of the real world.
  2. Just throwing this out for fun--seems like "burnout" is related to places of work that can be loosely defined as institutions/ companies--Can we use this with small farmers that own the land, animals/crops--how about loggers--independent carpenters etc--can they also claim burnout and get disability and sick time--
  3. Can I just say""stay off the phones in public"--Nothing is that life altering that it can't wait until you are home--We all worry about confidentially issues but how many times have I heard about your "lady partsl" problems at the car wash when you are so loud-giving all the info to your doctors office--Use your brain!!
  4. Somehow I feel this guy has done the same to others--Get a lawyer--when push comes to shove and legal gets involved, HR might be ready to listen and investigate
  5. The last time I heard that phrase was from an Older Physician and the meaning was I appreciate and respect these nurses and I am proud to work with them--he did not say that to all the Nurses Sometimes I think we need to get over ourselves---Remember respect is earned--the same as physicians have to earn my respect
  6. @2BS Nurse We never get any back stories on these deaths--previous medical conditions--ages etc--important info otherwise just sensational headlines
  7. Bad me but tired of minute by minute stories about the virus
  8. Hello--we as suppository knowledgeable people need to get a handle on this "crisis" the media is having a field day and spreading terror--is this any different than the SARS, Ebola, H1N1, that we lived through--spreading terror does no good--I know you all will chastise me, but I can't and won't live in fear of the people around me or what "might" happen
  9. Common sense--stay home if you are sick--good hand washing--stop the constant flow of visitors to hospitals, nursing homes--Stay away from compromised people and stop putting the population into hysteria--I know it doesn't sound scientific and is not necessarily what infection control would say but sometimes you have to take a step back and think instead of reactive with no plan in mind
  10. Agree with Nmbeck--what happened to double checking certain meds--you just did it for safety reasons
  11. As I read comments of other and your response--you are looking for a well paying, fits my life job--well nursing isn't it and probably there is not any job out there to meet your expectations--sorry--all jobs have downfalls--you have to adjust or you will be miserable and job hunting every two years--Just my opinion
  12. Wouldn't want that either--there are no prizes there either
  13. Corrections is no picnic unless it's minimum security than maybe OK
  14. I think that used to be "report" when the whole shift was there!!!
  15. Dad--you need to back off and let happen what will happen--be there to help pick up the pieces-brush her off and send her off on her own--She also needs to boot the boyfriend or male person in her life as he is abusive--Preceptors can be a big pain and they probably don't click and the preceptor probably doesn't want to do the job--she is in a no win situation all around--either she has a meeting with preceptor and management to help fix the situation or she needs to leave or find a mentor who will help her out
  16. @Skydancer Yes it needs to be said--I said it was blunt--the world and especially nursing, is not all sweetness and nice--22 is hard, so is 32-42-52-62-72 etc. Yes I've been through crappy nursing jobs with just as many crappy managers and people who don't care--Move on--grow up be the best that you can be for yourself--
  17. Life and Nursing is not going to get any easier--if this is your thought/attitude--get out now--it may sound harsh but as you portray yourself, in your post, as a negative person, I would not want you as a co-worker and perhaps this comes across in your interviews. Any potential employer does not want to take you on as there are too many people out there to choose from--sorry to be blunt
  18. Normasaline--we have been educated to death--time to put that education into practice--"not enough time" is the answer to use of fast food use and riding everywhere---If the total life style practices don't change there is no hope
  19. Document-document document--He was aware --you continued your observation--what did your charge nurse say or the supervisor--those are also your avenues
  20. Hi Student--Congrats on a Nursing career! My question is do you want to relocate--I'm assuming you do but I can give you a reason for you to stay where you are, for at least a year, if your are established at that Hospital--After graduating, the first year is going to be very stressful--It takes at least a year, after graduating, for all your education and what you are seeing and doing, to all fit together--it's like a light bulb comes on!!! Let this happen in a place where you already are familial with the organization and the hospital society. Do look into other places who interest with having to make a quick judgement and adding more stress to your life. May sound like an off the wall response but the results of this tress may leave you defeated and deflated and no one deserves this--Good Luck!!
