Procedure for Obtaining NY License?

Published

I'm about to graduate from nursing school and although I am not in New York, I sent in the application back in March 2011 for NY to be my first license (which I will then endorse to another state). I see that my check was cashed by the NY BON, but I haven't heard anything further from the BON regarding fingerprinting. My school is going to send my "letter" within the next few days to finalize my application process, and it looks like on the NY BON's website that they finger print people when they arrive to test at Pearson VUE rather than have you do it beforehand through another vendor. Is this the case? I am worried that I haven't received any info from NY about finger prints, but if they aren't making you get finger prints before the test (unlike other states) then I guess I am okay. I will call the BON first thing tomorrow morning to ask, but just wondering if anybody who took NCLEX in NY knew what the deal was.
