I am just getting ready to take my test for NCLEX and I received a letter saying that they were unable to read my fingerprints. So I thought no problem I will just re-do them. So along with the new fingerprint card I had to fill out a questionnaire and I got a speeding ticket from a red light camera but went to a class so it is NOT on my record, I wasn't sure if you are suppose to put down my one speeding ticket, but I didn't want to look like I have anything to hide, so now when you type in my name on the State Board Website it has something about not reading my fingerprints and the thing that bothers me is there is a self-complaint because of the speeding ticket. So people from my class are like what did you do? Well I got a ticket in 04 from a camera and took a class so it would not go on my record. Can a ticket go against you, even if it is not on your DMV. OH I also gave the state board of nursing my drivers license number, but can this hinder me from being a nurse and WHY does it say self-complaint that bothers so much. I just wanted to be forthcoming and honest and now I have a self-complaint against me. WHAT DO I DO????

I have never heard of any type of speeding ticket hindering fingerprint clearance. There were some students in my class that even had MIC/MIPs and they didn't run into any trouble on their clearance... granted they turned in a sheet explaining what happened. As long as the AzBN doesn't send you a deficiency notice specifically telling you you had a criminal record, you're fine. So if I had to guess, when it says they can't read your fingerprints, it means they can't read them. The best thing to do is just call AzBN and ask... but call early in the morning because it's always a 5-10 min wait!

Wow, I've never even heard of anything like that. Not a fun situation to be in. I'd call the board and ask them about what to do. I'm sure it won't cause a problem. It isn't like they can deny you employment or a license for traffic infractions. Plus, you were honest about it. Sounds like more of a pain than anything. I'm sorry!

It depends on how high your speed was. If it was 20 mph over the limit it is considered felony speeding in Az. This can have serious repercusions.

Sorry, that's incorrect. If it were a felony that would mean that the officer MUST book you for speeding. If you get convicted of a felony you can never vote again nor possess a firearm. It's a big deal.
1-19mph over is a civil offense;
20+ over is criminal, a misdemeanor
Big difference between misdemeanors and felonies. There are very few vehicle related felonies.
Going to traffic school will keep a conviction off of the record that your insurance company sees. But it will still show up on a real criminal history. But a civil offense is not criminal. Going in circles here myself.
My advice? Tell them what happened. It's no big deal. EVERYBODY gets speeding tickets now and then.

Put it down on the application. Some of the Board members have multiple speeding tickets.
