So it looks like my clinical group might be in a bit of a pickle. We are in our last semester, supposed to be doing our critical care rotation (but we're really on a MedSurg floor because another nursing school has priority at the hospital we're in) and in our clinical assignments there is a case study we must put together based on one of our patients and present it to the clinical group during post conference. We are supposed to type out our info and present questions to the group and all that. According to the clinical assignment, students are supposed to be assigned a week to present and that's how it's supposed to go.
Instead of doing this, my clinical instructor (who is really great, by the way) thinks that we should just orally present our patients each week and discuss nursing interventions and different methods of treating whatever condition. We have two clinical days each week and 8 people in my clinical group. Wednesday night, we have to type up a patho on our patients and whatever procedure they've had done and discuss this on Thursday. This is something we do every week. I find it very beneficial because you aren't doing a case study on one condition, instead we get to explore different conditions and treatments and everything. Everybody talks in post conference, and I find it's an effective way to learn.
Anyway, to the point. On my course website, the course director posted an announcement about our upcoming ATI exam. She said that she hopes everyone will be prepared to present our case studies post ATI.
Now I'm freaking out. No one in my clinical group will be prepared to do this (ATI is supposed to be Wednesday) because we've just been having oral discussions every week. Our clinical outline specifically says this will be done in post conference. Now we have to present it in front of our entire class, not just our clinical group. I'm just not sure what to do. I understand that this was an assignment that was supposed to be done, but what if someone was scheduled to present sometime in March because of the syllabus saying people should be scheduled each week to present. I feel like this has kinda been a bomb dropped. I think our instructors method is more effective than doing this, but now we're all screwed because of this. Ugh, just venting here because now I'm all panicked. I work hard every week on all of my clinical work and I make sure everything is absolutely perfect. Now I'm gonna look like an ass in front of my whole class.

I think you need to discuss this with your clinical instructor and tell her what is going on. She needs to make this right with the course director.
