Private Duty Nursing Documentation

Published

I need some help. I have been approached twice in the last week about doing some in home private duty nursing. The client's family want to pay me out of pocket, but I am unsure of the type of documentation that I would need to do to protect myself. Actually, I am unsure how to do any of this. Can anyone help me????

Good question, I am not familiar with the paperwork. I do want to nudge you in the direction of getting your own .

You also should check with the BON to be sure you are following guidelines. Remember, Nurses often but not always perform skills under Physician Orders. I am sort of thinking out loud here and hope others will add some ideas to consider based on their experiences.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

I already have my own private liablity insurance. I am in the state of New Mexico and have read thru the Nurse Practice act. I thought that I would also call them on Monday and see what they have to say.

Let us know what you find out!

Thank you!

If at all possible, if you could post a document here as an attachment for future assistence, when you find out, it would be helpful to all. I did post, in the Agnecy Forum a Flow Sheet on a Word Document for Assessment and REport Info. It would be great to have a library of forms with this attachment option.
