Prioritization

Which one comes first changing the dressing in g-tube or giving pain meds to a patient in pain. I need your rationalization.

Well the obvious answer is the pain med would have priority, but which you do first really depends on what you are doing when you are made aware of the pain med request. If you are not already involved in patient care with the one needing the dressing change go give the pain med.

If however you are already with the patient requiring the dressing change go ahead and finish what you are doing there, including changing that dressing which is quick enough as it is before going to your patient wanting the pain med.
