Prior Nursing Student Wants To Go Back

Nurses Career Support

Published

First post here, long-time lurker, and looking to post alot more now. Let me first off say I am 23 years old, male, currently attending college for a BS in Business Administration. After graduating high school went to college for nutrition with studies in pre-med as well. Figured if I was to eventually land in the medical area, why not get a BSN and be a nurse and decide if I wanted to stay as one or progess the ladder. Needless to say although I maintained over a 3.9 GPA and completed a pediatrics and 1/2 of a maternity rotation, the program I was in left me very unsatisfied. Now studying Business and hating everything and everyone I meet in it and seeing my sister in law at the hospital yesterday (had 1st child), I wish I had stayed or at least changed schools for nursing. I know people on here ponder a career change in their 40's, but I already feel alot of time has been wasted. What I plan or am trying to do is get into a local community college (Middlesex) and complete the nursing courses as all the non-nursing courses I have already completed. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar change and then revert back to it because it really was the right thing for you? Also, I need to work while in school and can handle both it and school and wondered what everyone else did to still pay the bills? Lastly, thank-you for reading my post and inviting me into your community.

Sincerely,

Adam
