Hello, I recently got accepted into Indiana Wesleyan University Fall 2015 FNP program. I was wondering if anyone else has applied and will be starting in the fall of 2015 as well. I also would like to know if anyone has graduated from IWU Primary Care Nursing program. If so how was the program.

Thanks...

I am accepted to the summer fnp program. Trying to decide between two programs. Have you heard anything regarding program?

Hello I also will be starting the FNP at IWU this summer. I heard it is a great program. I completed my RN-BSN at IWU . My experience at this school has been great.

I have a coworker that is currently in the program. Over said it is good, have some problems with faculty communication.

I completed their accelerated BSN program on main campus. Absolutely loved it. Wonderful Faculty And staff.

I have been accepted into the program starting Feb 1st, but I am on the waiting list for the fall class. I would appreciate any tips and/or reviews on the program as well!

Kfawbush01, it would be nice if you were to start in the fall. We could use one another for a resource. I will keep in touch and let you know how the program is, once I start this fall..

Good for you ! @jsklee....

Hi, I am slated to start in Nov 2015, but have concerns that they are so vague about the financial aid. What has your experience been? I have never heard of a school that does not reveal financial aid umtil AFTER classes start. I don't want to be blindsided after I am alreay in and owe money.

Thanks,

jennifer

Anyone want to give an update of their experience at IWU FNP program? I start Jan 2017 and I am curious about the work load, breaks, assignments, and over all experience with working fulltime and managing assignments and clinicals. All pros and cons appreciated.

I am enrolled in the program now and started May 2017. I live in Ohio. I just finished my first class with them and I found the process to be smooth. For my financial aid, I am going on student loans and some employer tuition assistance. I had one phone call with financial aid and they helped me through the set up process. I was cleared weeks in advance of starting my program and received my excess funds. I work full time in an ICU setting three 12's and find the work manageable. The first class was six weeks long and you build upon previous assignments. It's nice because they open classes a week early so you can see your assignments (and due dates) along with an estimated time per assignment on the online portal.

I would say thus far I am able to handle the work load well with a full time job and a little one at home. My wife also works full time. As long as you keep up with the program and understand that the work load is ACTUALLY 20-25 hours of time a week, I foresee passing without issue. As assignments go though, if you fall behind you're screwed. One because the timing actually has a grade impact (enough to make you fail) and you also lose the option for some assignments to be revised per instruction direction if turned in beyond the due date. Personally though, I have found my first class to be direct and to the point and though time consuming. Not too much to handle. I also have 3 years nursing experience between ER and ICU.

I started this program after going through Western Governors RN-BSN program that I finished in the first term (6 months) so they do accept Western Governors. I was referred to IWU through one of the ER NP's that I work with - She's amazing. If you are having doubts send me a message, or talk with a program representative. I was inquisitive probably to the point of annoyance before I started, but I do not want to waste $30,000 or two years of my life either.
