I need some good nursing (not medical) advice. I have a resident that is in a 3D boot and is having problems with skin breakdown. What can I do as far as nursing measures go to help with this? I am already doing the assessing every shift, lotion, and placing gaze over the areas that are looking red. The doctor wants the boot on all the time, so I can not float the heel. Is there anything else as far as nursing measures go that I can do? I do not have much experience with ortho, so any advice would be very much appreciated.
