Preparation for FNP board test.

Published

Hello everyone. I made a similar question before couple of years ago but I am hoping there are more options available now. I am looking for a very descriptive and visual (video) online class that can help me as a preparation for my FNP board test. I am a good visual learned. I am looking for something like "hurst". Any ideas or suggestions.

Thank you

I don't know of any NP review that has the type of detailed audio visuals that you seek. Even the ones that sell DVDs or stream video content---it's typically a video recording of their live seminars. There's no fancy graphics or animations, mostly a person standing there lecturing to an audience and some powerpoint slides here and there.

Even if you are a visual learner, audio-visuals will probably not help you much with the NP boards. The questions are not like the NCLEX. They will not be testing your knowledge of the nursing process, or the ABCs (or CABs), or A&P, or prioritization of nursing care, and when to call the MD. There is no MD to call because you are the provider, and there is no other patient's care to compare and prioritize because you have only the one that's in front of you. The questions mostly test your critical thinking so far as identifying risk factors, recognizing symptoms and understanding pathophysiology of the more common issues that you will likely see in primary care, ordering appropriate diagnostics, prescribing appropriate medications and doses, knowing when to refer to specialists, etc.

Download the test plan for the boards that you will be taking and start there. And use a review book like Fitzgerald or Leik to go over the topics.
