Hey guys,
I am starting nursing skills this January! So excited! Is there something I can do in advance to get ready for the class?
Thank you,

Congrats! I would advise checking out YouTube for some of the nursing skill videos, they have some really good ones on there. Check out lab simulation videos, so you can see how some of the skills are performed, and it'll give you a heads up. Also, check out Amazon and look for a book called Nursing Fundamentals Reviews and Rationales, and another book called Fundamentals Success. Both of these books are INCREDIBLE and will be invaluable during your classes. They prepare you on how to think critically and use NCLEX style questions related to nursing fundamentals, and gives you the rationales behind the answers so you'll know what to look for in those types of questions. Good luck!
Thank you, guys! One girl who took the class last semester said they barely touched the book.. I've been looking through it, just out of curiosity. I was hoping to do a few things ahead, being a mom of three little kids and having an over-achiever personality, anything I can do in advance would be super helpful.
I am looking at the books you recommended, x_factor, they have really good reviews! Rationale meaning it explains why certain things have to be done a certain way? It's about $60 for both books... would it be a good addition to the Art and Science of Nursing? (Taylor)

I don't have any experience with the art and science of nursing book. The Reviews and Rationales book, and the Fundamentals Success book, both teach you how to think critically, using NCLEX style questions (something that is the main-frame for how questions are posed in nursing school on every exam, where there may be two correct answers, but one is "more correct"). And they then give you the correct answer, and explain the rationale behind it, meaning why it's the correct answer, and what steps lead to that being the best answer for that given question. It's definitely worth the investment for both books, and would be a great avenue for you to begin doing some of the practice problems and getting adjusted to how the questions are asked, and how to think critically when answering them. This way once classes begin, you won't be completely blind-sided by the entirely new way questions are asked, like many students will be.
