Hey guys,
I'm in the middle of a 6-month orientation in the OR and I just finished with my neuro rotation. I did about 3 cranis and we used chloraprep for all of the preps. It made me a nervous even though the head wasn't tilted in such a way that the prep was likely to run into the eyes and we put xeroform in the ears to plug them up. I was just wondering what standard practice was at all of your facilities...anybody just use Betadine?

All of our neuro guys are different. Some are betadine scrub and paint, others are betadine paint with duraprep, some are chlorhexidine scrub with duraprep or betadine paint. Before they were told they couldn't use it, some used alcohol.
