I will be taking the TEAS next spring and I thought it may be helpful if I could attend a TEAS preparatory seminar. I did a Google search and found that there are such classes in the Bay Area at Marin college and East Bay college.
I was wondering if there is anything type of prep seminar in Sacramento for the TEAS?

Some time ago, I was also looking for such a class, but also found in only in Bay Area. Defenetely buy the book. Since you are in Sacramento, I would love to give you mine, but I already have a couple of people asking for it, sorry. I got mine on Craiglist, so it might be an option and for sure you can save some $$$. I found math part to be very helpfull and also some english (I mean grammar) However, I used my 9th grade son's book for punctuation rules and it helped a lot. Science, I was glad I studied science part, but it more likely you know it or not, since actual TEAS didn't have much from the book. I think that my son's book (science) would be more helpful, but I didn't have that much time and TEAS book was only the book I studied. The reading part was kind of easy. I am bilingual and was kind of scared of that part, but somehow got %95.
Where are you applying. Do you need any help?:paw:
Thanks for replying! I actually already bought the TEAS manual, but was just thinking that an actual class might help as well. I plan to start working through the manual after this semester is over and will take the TEAS sometime in the spring.
I'm finishing up microbiology right now and then I will be able to apply to all the junior colleges (ARC, Sierra, Sac City). I am thinking about the Samuel Merrit Accelerated BSN program, since I already have a bachelor's degree, except I don't know if I want to get into that much debt.
I still need to take organic chemistry to qualify for CSUS. I am looking at their entry level master's program, however I'd still settle if I could get into their BSN program.
I don't know how good my chances are about getting into CSUS though because I don't have health care experience, I am not from a disadvanged or low income family, and I am not bilingual. I do however have a 4.0 GPA, but with all the 'extra' criteria where people are getting extra points, it appears a solid 4.0 isn't good enough anymore. (Yes, I'm irked about that!)
I do plan on trying to get health care volunteer experience though.
Anyway, thanks for your reply and encouragement! I may just drive down to the Marin college and do their prep program.
Don't be discouraged by these extra points that some people get. You should be happy that starting next semester bilingual people would only get 3 points instead of 6 ( I really think that it is more reasonable so you won't have a big gap). Then, try to volunter those 100 hours, you need those 3 points. And who doesn't qualify for that low income points now?
I also inquired about SMU. I love the place, I even had appintment there, but tuition scared me.
So, your great GPA should give you an advantage and study for the TEAS so you can get more points. I also have 4.0 and got 89% on TEAS and I got that bilingual points (sorry) and 3 for work experience.
SacState doens't allow any more students without BSN into their Entry Level Masters, I also got upset for that. You seem not to know it.

I just wanted to let other pre-nursing students who live in either Placer County or Sacramento County and who are interested in a TEAS test preparation class that I did find a class in the Bay Area!
However, I was unsuccessful in finding one in Placer County or Sacramento County.
This college has new TEAS preparation classes every couple of weeks for the different sections of the test, so if you are interested here's the contact information:
California State University, East Bay (Hayward Campus)
Program Coordinator: Janet Kelly, (510) 885-2313
Email Address: [email protected]
Website: http://www.conted.csueastbay.edu
I emailed Miss Kelly and got a quick reply regarding the TEAS courses. I hope this is helpful. Have a good day.
