Preferred college of nursing?

Published

hi guys! anyone here graduate from preferred college of nursing in carson ca? opinions and thoughts about the program and campus pls. thank you and much appreciated.

qtypnay,

PCN is really not good school in the sense that they are hiring unqualified instructors, the owners who are also school officials are rude and incompetent. I suggest you go to Homestead or Trinity.

Sincerely,

I graduated from PCN Carson. I also passed my NCLEX on the first try. My experience wasn't too bad. Or maybe it just seems that way, now that I've got through it.

We had some amazing teachers, but sadly, they all quit recently, due to low pay and politics.

There are a couple of unqualified teachers with no experience in the US, and completely clueless when it comes to nursing. Surprisingly, they're still employed ..probably because they're related to the administrators.

Yeah, it's a pretty disorganized school. They did some reconstruction and took away a lot of parking, so you'll have to park like a mile away. And the exams they make may be unrelated to the chapter/lecture, and their answer keys have mistakes. They do give you a lot of chances if you fail, but it's only because they want more money, for every term you have to repeat.

However, PCN is the cheapest VN program I could find. They don't accept FAFSA though. They only have loans through Sallie Mae, which may be hard to get. And don't believe anyone who says you won't have to pay 'till the end of school. Every term, you owe them about $4000, or they charge you a 2% interest. And though the books are included, you only get to keep a couple of them. And ATI was mandatory, so we paid an extra $250. Gotta buy your own uniforms from the school too, which are $30 a set. And they have at least one quiz/test every week, for which you'll need to buy a 25cent scantron form them. It all adds up.

It's all self study, but if you're lucky enough to get a good instructor (they hired some good ones right before we graduated ...hope they haven't quit already) who makes his/her own tests, and makes life a little bit easier for you; and if your class isn't filled with immature idiots like mine was, then there's a chance you'll be alright.

One last thing you gotta know though - their credits are non-transferable. But I believe that's the same with most private schools.

Doesn't really sound like "preferred" college to me....just my opinion.

What about the one in van nuys? Is that school any good?

HEY EVERYONE PLS PLS PLS DON'T GO TO THIS SCHOOL.. I went there with a bunch of prerequites and yet they told me that had to take a test to challenge the anatomy/physiology. My prerequites came from a credited junior college....I took anatomy/physiology and an "A" in 2006....Psi anyways to make a long story short they never made an effort to look at my unofficial/official transcripts. They don't consider any previous schooling ,,,THEY'RE JUST OUT FOR THE MONEY AND THAT'S IT.... Save u r money...

I'm going to trinity college ,they seem more organized and are giving credit for my anatomy and physiology ,psychology ,,, looks good so far I'll be starting in November ..Don't go to PREFERRED COLLEGE .. they maybe the cheapest but by far the worst school I've ever gone through ...
