Preceptorships/Externships

This is a topic that was discussed on another posting, but I was wondering where everyone is planning on doing their externship or preceptorship? I need to narrow down my choices between critical care and the ER. In our school the externship is three weeks in the spring of your senior year.

I'd love to hear where everyone is going to be!

Spring semester i will be doing ER and ICU for 144 hours each. Lots of hours for only 2 credit hours :)

I will probably do most of it at night, so i should get to see a bunch of Alcohol poisonings (gotta love thoughs frat boys).

I just graduated in May, and did half of my preceptorship in ER and half in CIU. The ER was the best learning experience, I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to do my preceptorship there.

In the ER, I saw so many different things, and got to practice all of those skills I'd learned over and over and over. I felt like I'd learned more during my time in the ER than in all of my clinicals. So much in fact, that I decided to accept a job there right out of school. Good luck!
