I'm having trouble deciding what I want to do for my preceptorship and how it affects my job offers when I graduate. I love pediatrics and I'd like to precept at a children's hospital, but I've also though about going back to school to be a CRNA. In that case, I need ICU experience. I've really enjoyed those rotations along with my odds and OB. I basically torn between peds, OB, and ICU. I believe if I chose the children's hospital I can still work their ICU unit. I've even thought about asking for a psych preceptorship. It's just a lot to choose from and I don't want what I choose to deter a hospital hiring me in an unrelated area to my preceptorship.
Thanks for any advice!
How sure are you of getting what you choose? Most of the programs with which I'm familiar ask you to put down your first, second and third choices but you may or may not get one of them. While it is true that preceptorship is a 12-week job interview, you may also be hired in an unrelated area. You have so much to learn, you'll have no trouble learning no matter which preceptorship you wind up with.
