Any advice for physically and emotionally preparing for preceptorship. I'm going to start in about 3 weeks. My very last quarter! Right now I'm soo scared. I haven't even been in a hospital for 3 months due to our summer break. I feel as though I've forgotten everything. Right now I think I need to touch up on assessents, disease processes, and all these other things. I just don't know where to start. Any tips that will be helpful in getting back in that nurse mentality? thanks much!!

there are lots of stickys on this and the general nursing student discussion forum. now is a good time to go through the posts on these threads and explore some of the links, bookmark ones that look like they would be helpful for you. pm me if there are websites you would particularly like to have in your orificenal. i have a file of general medical weblinks that i will reprint below. also, i downloaded the pdf file of a powerpoint presentation that was given to train preceptors on how to be preceptors (never hurts to know what the job description is of the boss). i can only send it as an attachment to an e-mail. you cannot post your personal e-mail address on the forums, but you can send it to me in a pm and i will send this pdf file to you if you are interested in seeing it.
please don't be scared. you will remember more than you think. keep in mind that none of us remembers everything. that's why we have reference books. the place to start is to look at what your syllabus for the nursing class sends you to!
