Pre Reqs Questions

My guess from looking at the website is that if you can transfer pre-reqs that you've already done, it will shorten the time, but it's technically still a 4-year degree. However, if they accept your transfer credits, you'll have less than 4 years left.

Also, they have a summer semester listed as part of the curriculum, at least between the third and fourth years.

I doubt there are pre-reqs to the pre-reqs. My understanding from their website is that if it's your first degree, you start with all the pre-reqs and general education classes. If it's your second degree (or you have a lot of pre-reqs you can transfer in), you start wherever you've left off in previous studies.

Thanks for clarifying! That's good news to me, although I will probably have to retake quite a few classes, and I've never taken a history class so I'm dreading that!

Well almost every program the first 2 years are pre req's. like math, English in my case religion. So if you have some classes done it will cut your time. The actual nursing is 2 years. This is why I decided BSN because the nursing classes here where i live for ADN are also 2 years, so one year of pre req's was nothing.

The community college told me it was 2 years I was like okay 2 years, 1 year pre req's 1 year nursing, the advisor said no you have to do pre req's on your own. So its a 3yr degree!!

So I was confused like you when I looked into my BSN. I thought it was 4 years nursing & I had to do pre req's on the side. But the 4 year degree consists of 2 yrs pre req's & your 2yrs of nursing.

Once you get into the nursing program you have to follow their curriculum. So you might not be able to do summer unless its the way they do it.

Example my school here in Texas does quarters, so I will be doing Fall, Winter, Spring & Summer for the 2 years with the same ppl unless they don't pass a classes. I get one quarter off I think it's the 5th so next Fall. So whatever your school curriculum is. This is why they only accept a certain amount of ppl, so they have an even ratio throughout your program.
