Hello everyone! I am only in 10th grade but I am really interested in becoming a nurse. However, I do not know much about the programs and would like to ask some questions. So first of all, I am thinking of Rutgers New Brunswick University and University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, but am not sure about the pre-reqs. If I was to apply to these schools during my senior year, would I be taking my pre-reqs at the school and then apply to the nursing schools there? Or am I suppose to take pre-reqs at a different and specific college?
Thank you in advance. (sorry for not knowing much )

Rutgers doesn't have any pre reqs - you would apply to Rutgers and simply select College of Nursing as your choice. All pre req type classes are integrated throughout the program.
I don't know much about UMDNJ (I actually thought they only had second degree programs so you might need to look into that), but if they DO have a traditional program, you'd probably have to take pre reqs at a community college and then apply.
Since you're still in high school, I suggest talking with your guidance counselor about all of your options and they should be able to tell you what different schools require!
I'm a student at Rutgers right now and I'm applying to the nursing school as a transfer, so I may be able to answer some questions about the program if you want to know anything else. It's very competitive so keep your grades up! (http://www.nursing.rutgers.edu is also helpful!)

hi....as fay and as far as I know...UMDNJ only takes those who have a bachelors already and as far as prereqs are concerned some high school students can be directly admited into the program depending on Gpa and or sat scores ...it all depends on the school.. if not directly admitted, you would have to take your prereqs at the college you choose to go to not in your high school
