USF Master's Entry CNL - Spring 2010

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I just applied to USF (CA) CNL program for the non-nurse. Has anyone else applied? Or does anyone know their admission statistics from last spring?

Hi Mfrancisco, I did not ask how many total applicants they had this time around. However she did tell me that they only offered about 15 people spots on the "waitlist". Good luck to you as well! I really hope we all hear good news soon...

Gosh, this is so scary and exciting. I hope 15 people got accepted to Samuel Merritt, decline USF, and we all get in! HA HA....wishful thinking. Good luck!

I agree!!! One possible thing that might help is that the program is expensive so sometimes people will decline because of that. All in all the waiting is by far the worst part....

hey everyone...i got my acceptance letter on Saturday Nov 14. BUT dont get worried!! Good luck to all you guys!!

The person that actually introduced me to the program said she actually received a rejection letter, and she went to USF to go over her application again, and they accepted her on the spot...

so she went over there and she changed their minds?

Yeah, please explain? How do you get denied, and then go over there and get accepted on the spot?

Yes, please share!

Apparently after reviewing her application again, the school realized they had made a mistake and that she should have been accepted in the first place.

Ah, I see. My friend that attended SFSU's master's entry cnl did the same thing because they had miscalculated her GPA. She called because they said in the rejection letter that her GPA was under a 3.0, so she knew they had made a mistake. I am just really confused about the fact that they told us that we are on the waitlist, but did not give us a specific number. Also, they have told several people several different things. People have been told that the waitlist is 15 and 20, and I think it was you, rabitona, that was told 25. I really wonder what's going on here. Thanks for the vote of confidence, fromthasco (like your username!). Now that makes me a little concerned, though, because are we supposed to be calling and asking them why we are not accepted and why we are on the waitlist? Oh, this is so confusing!! I can't wait until we all hear something!

Unfortunately, this just makes me angry, and more discouraged. I am sure there are many people that are on the waitlist that "should have gotten in in the first place," and while there is probably a lot more to this story, it makes me upset and frustrated.

I asked if I could "advocate" for myself to get off the waitlist, and was told no, so hearing that someone went in and talked to someone and was offered a spot while many of us have been told to "wait patiently" is ridiculous.

There needs to be some continuity in this whole thing, and there isn't! :angryfire

Anytime mfrancisco...I have been applying to nursing schools for 5 years now. I know exactly how you feel. I just kept working hard, and streghthening my application and never forgetting that

In the end, everything will be ok. If it's not ok, then it's not the end.

You just need to be persistent. And if something doesnt go your way, contact them and ask why. They may or may not accept you, but at least you'll know what you can do to better your app for the next cohort.

I completely agree, afrobuddhess! This is all a very strange process, and I feel like we are not being told the whole story. It is extremely frustrating, and they do have to have some idea of "rankings" because how did they figure out who was on the waitlist in the first place. I also am feeling discouraged because I am wondering if they even sent out rejection letters.

Nattles - When you said that you know someone who got a rejection letter, are you sure it was for this program and not the BSN? Sorry, but I am just wondering if anyone did get rejection letters? URGH. So afrobuddhess, did they say anything else to you about what the waitlist chances are? I didn't get much, and was just told that the faculty is working on ranking the waitlist, and that we would get notified shortly.
