National University San Diego

Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

Thanks

yeah definitely! i've been looking around and 8GB goes for 229.99 and 16GB is 299.99. i think the extra money for double the space is worth it! :)

Hello, these threads are really informative! I have some questions for anyone willing to take the time to answer. I am planning on applying to NU's nursing program accelerating BSN (already have a bachelor's degree). I need to take micro human anatomy and phys pre-reqs. So here are my q's:

1. Anyone take these pre-reqs at NU? I've tried to take them at community college to save money, but most of these classes have other pre-reqs I have to satisfy before I take the ones I need and they are always full anyways? Anyone else have that problem? Is there a way to beat the system here?

2. are the pre-req classes offerred every month?

3. Are we able to apply to the nursing program before we are done with the pre-reqs?

4. How often do they accept people into the nursing program?

5. what is the new revised schedule that I hear people talking about on this post? Somethign regarding the pre-reqs.

Thanks so much!!!!!

hi there! its great seeing a new "face" on this website. i am danielle by the way, and i will answer the questions to how things went for me, and i am sure some of the other girls will respond as well.

1. the only prereq for those nursing prereqs (anatomy physiology and microbiology) is intro to general bio and maybe intro to general chem (i dont remember lol). both are pretty easy, and sorry no getting around them. i took micro at national university spectrum campus with Dr. Salimi and it was so great! he was an awesome teacher and our whole class did wonderful. anatomy and physiology are another story, they definitely take a lot of work and i wouldnt take them together. national is SUPER expensive, i think each of those classes is like $1600? and so is the micro class. but i heard their combined A&P class is way easier than at state or community college, and you could have all 3 classes done in 3 months!

2. i am pretty sure most everything is offered everything month.

3. YES YES YES!!! this is where i wished i had way more info about the school. apply TOMORROW. they take at least 3 months to get back to you and because there is a little bit of a wait you have 6-12 months (leaning more towards the 12 months unless you get bumped up a cohort or 2 like a few of us did) before your nursing start date to finish up classes.

4. the reason i came to national university....they accept FOUR TIMES A YEAR so the odds are much better. January, April, July, and October.

5. the "new" requirements to being accepted are all on the school website now when you search for the nursing program. we were just caught right in the middle of the change and we were updated by email. i think you need stats before you start, and to take a TEAS test. oh and your essay is proctored. we were able to just type it up and send it in.

hope that helps some....

Thank you so much for the info. You sound super sweet. Its interesting that I hear people say that I can already apply, but on the website it says that the req to apply include the pre-reqs. yeah, I know I would have to take those pre-reqs if I went to cc or state, but thats just another semester I would have to wait to get the ball rolling. 1600 a class? Thats outrageous, I thought it was something like 1000. Hmm. so you took the pre-reqs at national huh? Are you glad you did it that way? Again, thanks for all the info!

One more question. Anyone taken the pre-reqs at national and the core courses? if so, any idea how much this will all cost at the end of the entire program? Thanks!

I took the A&P 1 and 2 plus the labs, that will take you 6 months. A&P 1 and Labs is approx $1600 and takes 2 months, so in six months you should be done.

Congrats to everyone accepted to NU, i applied this month Feb for LVN-BSN, received email that they will get to me in 3-4 weeks. Anyone know how the application process is? how is the wait? how many people here are due to start in octomber?

Actually, Danni314 answered your questions very well, however at the nursing orientation we just went to about 2 weeks ago, I believe that some of the changes they made were that you are going to have to start having all of your prereq's BEFORE you apply to the program. Call an advisor and they can give you a better answer over the phone, but I think that is what I heard. Sorry. About your first question, if there was a way to beat the system (Other than paying out the ear for NU) I am sure ALL of us would have gone that route...It took me 2 1/2 years to complete all my prereq's for the BSN RN program at community colloege. ;)

Well I know that for everyone it has been quite different. I think that I was a very lucky exception. I appllied in August and got the acceptance letter in December for the April Cohort (18) so I guess that was a total from application to start date...9 months. I only waited 5 months to hear back I have heard of people waiting from 6 months to over a year! And thats just the acceptance, then they have to wait to get in...like me I got accepted, but not for 5 months since they sent me the letter...Dunno what makes the difference and how exactly it all works, but I do know that the addmission proccess is a lot different now so...

yeah i applied in august too and they shockingly got back to me in december. i had hear people waiting much longer too. but ashley, we are starting in april only cause they have openings...we were originally accepted into october. my prereqs/general ed took 3 years to complete. and sorry...im not up on all the new rules, so i would check and see if they need to be completed BEFORE you apply. i hadnt heard of that one yet. GOOD LUCK!

For those that applied before september, they should be starting this year latest october, that what they told us at pre-conference.

Yes, effective september 2008, in order to apply, ALL pre-req's have to be completed....
