International credit transfer

Hi everyone,

This is my first post. I am looking into direct-entry MSN programs with a psychiatric/mental-health specialty, and I need to take anywhere from 2 to 6 prerequisites (have a BA in psych).

I am currently living in Panama (finishing a peace corps assignment), and it would be much much cheaper and easier for me to take the classes at a national university here. Has anyone else done this, and do you know if the credits will be at least as well recognized as community college credits?

You probably will need to check with or call the community colleges or universities you might be attending in the future. With each college having their own set of guidelines, some might; some might not....I'm otherwise unfamiliar with "national universities" overseas, but what I've seen on these boards is that each school has its own way of determining what they will or won't accept. Maybe someone else will have some personal experience with what you are asking.

Do a web search for "board of nursing" for the state(s) you are interested in....from there, they should have a list of schools for that area and that should help you narrow down your possibilities if you don't already have one in mind. Also, I believe http://www.discovernursing.com has a list of schools there.
