Dual social work/RN program?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi everybody,

I am torn between going back to school to become an RN or to get an MSW. Does anyone know of any programs that combine the two degrees?

I have a BA in Cultural Studies & Spanish, and would be love to become an RN as fast as possible. Because of my undergraduate majors, I am well-qualified to enter an Masters of Social Work program, but am lacking many prereqs for nursing. It would be great to combine my studies in both areas without having to invest the time and money into two completely separate schools. Google has not yielded any results for me.

Thank you for any direction!

I have a BSW, and I am hoping to start a RN program in the Fall. I think I will have many more options than if I went to MSW next. Also, I am doing my Associates rather than BSN, so the cost will be far less. I dreamed of being a nurse since I was a kid, so it all works for me. Plus, I think the compensation is much better, and I am not really interested in paying $30,000 a year to get my Master's right now (yes, I know it is hard for new RN grads to get jobs, but try getting a job as a social worker these days!).

Social Workers do amazing work all across the board in society. They should be paid well also...just like anybody else..
