Am I setting myself up for failure?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I start nursing school in the fall!:)

I am taking two summer courses (A&P1 and Intro to Statistics.) I need a C+ or above in every single course in order to stay in the program. I am already freaking out about classes and I don't even start summer classes until July! I feel like I won't be able to get through nursing school...... especially after all I hear about nursing school is how hard it is. I feel so discouraged and I haven't even started yet!!!

Any advice?

Do you have to take both classes this summer? If not I would not take those two together in the summer. A&PI is not to bad by itself, but combined with stats could be a little overwhelming. That would also depend on what other obilgations you have outside of school. I wish you luck!

1st of all congrats on getting into nursing school. I am in preceptor now about to graduate in August so I was there only about 1 1/2 years ago. A&P 1, lab, & statistics will definitely take a lot out of you, depending on how well you already know A&P. Our A&P 1 was mostly bones, ligaments, joints, etc. and I wasn't very good at it. But just think, full time students require taking 12 credits, normally 4 classes. The only thing is it's a summer class so it's not a full 16 weeks. It might be good though because in nursing school even the fall and spring classes are so fast paced it feels like 12 weeks. It will kind of get you in the speed/pace of nursing school. Just get ready to spend all your time studying, I highly recommend it. I didn't study near as much as I should have, passed every class, but now feel far behind everyone else and am cramming to study for boards in Sept. Good luck to you, just remember it will be over before you know it.
