Hello all!
I am a brand new member to this forum, and I just finished applying to Chattanooga State for the Fall 2015 nursing program. I'm super excited to make this life/career change, and have registered for my first set of pre-reqs--A&P I and Psy 2030 in Spring 2014.
However, I am a flight attendant, so for so many days of the month I am required to be on base in Charlotte NC. I plan to quit my job when my lease is up at the end of March and move back home to take classes in person, but in the mean time the remote option works best for me.
My advisor mentioned that I could take the RODP class option for A&P since it is completely online (lab and lecture) but that it might be harder to study for than a regular class. I have taken the online nutrition course through Chatt State and did very well, so I'm not worried about the autonomous study skills and time management necessary, but I was hoping some people who had experience with RODP could give me some advice as to what I should expect.
Thanks so much!!!

I don't know what RDOP is, but I'm currently taking A&P II online and love it! For labs we use physioex. It's great since my schedule and classes don't really mesh. I wish my micro class was all online but it's a hybrid so we've had to meet for 9 labs on campus. My math is online too. I love it! Next semester will be my last semester of gen eds and I plan on taking them all online!

I wouldn't recommend taking A&PI as an RODP course…I HATED both my RODP courses! You will refer to the things u learn in A&P1 for the rest of nursing school…I would take that in a normal classroom to make sure you get a solid understanding of the material. With that said IF Chatt State and an online A&P course that would be different because when you were in town you could go to campus an talk the the professor…RODP professors are from all over the state and sometimes beyond
thanks for your response. What specifically did you dislike about the RODP courses? Its the only option for me right now, considering I can't guarantee I can be home every Wednesday at 2 pm, for example.
The online class that Chattanooga state offers is a hybrid as well, and I wish I could take it instead of the all-online feature. I'm glad you like it though! Its kind of nice being able to go to class "in your pajamas" so to speak! :)
RODP books normally aren't sold in the bookstore…the professors can be in a different time zone and not realize that if your in west TN and it's 7pm it's 8pm in knoxville…yea that is a true story! I took English II as an RODP class and my professor was a full time teacher at UNC Chapel Hill…I would stick with non RODP online classes…You could always take A&P 1 &II over the summer in term 1 and term 2. I believe you can take Microbiology and A&PII during the same term…I THINK all board of regents schools work the same
would you say it was more difficult to study for/prepare for tests, etc? Or was it fairly straightforward?
Thanks so much for your input!
I made over 2000 flashcards for A&PI and almost twice that for A&PII…Micro I lost count. THe material in these classes is very dense and without someone to physically show how these process work I would have been lost! We would cover a topic in lecture and I would be TOTALLY lost until I went to Lab and got to see the process in action.
