Pre-nursing , Single mom, Could this possibly work?

Yes it can work. I am also a single mom, and now attending college for my AA in Nursing. Why do you have to go to FL. I would reconsider if I were you. You are going to need alot of support while going to school. Did you consider any of the community colleges offering the RN Associates degrees?

Are there any single moms out there attending community college working towards there AA in pre-nursing? Are your plans to transfer to a university? Would this be impossible to do? I currently reside in Atlanta with my family and the only universities that I know of with nursing programs are Georgia State and Kennesaw State. I'm def going to apply to those but I've also decided to apply to a few other schools which happen to not be in GA but in FL. UWF in Pensacola FL my hometown. Also FAMU and FSU. I know it would def be a challenge if I were to leave my GA since my both my parents live here but could it work? Once your accpeted to the RN nursing program do they have their own schedules already set or can you choose how you want your schedule to be?

Emory in Atlanta is a medical school, like I said in the previous post I'm a single mom also. But in my case my son is n school while i'm in school. Outside of GI Bill you could get pell or student loans. I got student loans and pell. I go to a community college here in Albany called Darton. I plan on getting my associates in RN then bridging to bsn at a university. I choose this program because it is a 2 year program jus like lpn except you'll be able to take the nclex for RN license. Both ASN and LPN is 3 years including pre reqs. THe school also haas different tracks by that they mean you're under the same college but different locations, so you won't have to move or come to Albany if there is one closer to ATL. They have a few different options I think you should check it out.

Thanks ladies! This gives me hope. I know it would be quite a challenge but im ready for whatever is thrown my way. I just want to give my daughter the life my parents gave me :).

@Jazzyrose: If I dont get accepted into any Rn programs here my second college choices would be Tallahassee and Pensacola FL. Almost my enitre family on boths sides excluding my parents live there and Tallahassee is only 2 hours away. I have a few cousins there and i'd prefer to be close to family if i move anywhere. I def want to stay in ATL with my parents but if things dont work out here my second choice would be there. I did look into RN programs at local community colleges but they all seem to have terribly long waiting list :crying2: .
