about pre-nursing courses

I know pre-nursing courses always include A&P, Micr ,Bio,Chem But what are the content actually about? Are the pre-nursing course same to the science course of the high school's last year ?Is the physics needed to take in pre-nursing courses?

thanks!

OK, your question isn't really clear but I decided to respond to give you a little bit of light.

Pre-reqs are basic courses to make sure that you are capable of moving on to the bigger stuff and to make sure that you are "well rounded" At my univeristy, mine included 2 english, statistics, philosophy, psychology, sociology, 2 AP, Micro or bacteriology, a fine art (music or dance) and a global awareness class (i know it's a stupid requirement)

My school did not require physics and as for it being compared to high school I will say "no". High schools have AP classes that can go for college credit if you pass the test but I will still say take the college version. I was in alot of these advanced placement classes and still decided to retake it in college. Even though I had a general knowledge of what was going on, the high school classes did not go in depth like the college courses did. Anyways, good luck and hope this helps!!

I just finished my 2 pre recs. In total I have 5 - Math for health sciences (very simple formulas and they are easy), Psychology great stuff. We learned about child abuse, memory, id, ego and superego... I am taking Fundamentals of general chemistry (that was pre rec for Biology) and English 101 next semester.

So my pre recs are:

Math for health science

Psychology

Che 121 (leading to BIO)

Eng 101

Good luck

At my school are pre regs are

Anatomy

physiology

micro (did it this summer)

intro psych or socio

science 6 c hr

humanities 6 c hr

human growth (did it this summer)

intro to nursing

Specializes in Level III cardiac/telemetry.

Are they the same as high school?? No way! At least not the sciences, which I think is what you're asking about. You might find the gen eds like english and humanities similar, but it's still on a more challenging level. You are expected to work harder and get a a deeper understanding of the material.

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

At my school, pre-reqs are College Algebra, A&P I, English 1301, and Intro to Psych. So, all schools are different.

Thanks for all of you replying!

The nursing program that i want to get in is 2 years nursing program

(ADN),not the college one,so i want to know if the pre-nursing courses are

not very diffcult coz they're more easier than the university/college's pre-

nursing courses?

thanks!

Specializes in Maternity, quality.

A college course is a college course, regardless of whether it's taken at a two-year college or a four-year college. Getting an ADN is not "easier" than getting a BSN, it's just a different route. At the end, both the ADN grad and the BSN grad sit for the same licensing exam and need to have the same level of knowledge. So the short answer is, no, pre-nursing courses at the 2-year program will not be easier than at a university.

I totally agree!!!! It is not any easier to get an ADN. From what I have heard it is harder b/c more people can apply. Tuition is usally cheaper than a university and prereqs are not as many but they are in no way easier. My college requires the following classes to be considered for admission into their ADN program.

Inorganic chemistry with lab

Organic/Biochemistry with lab

Microbiology with lab

Anatomy & Physiology 1 with lab

Anatomy & Physiology 2 with lab

Upper level math. Either pre calc or advanced math for non science majors

Intro to Psychology

Life Span Development

Intro to Biology

Sociology

English 101

There is no "easy" way to get into nursing sorry.
