Pre-employment exams (medication / med-surg)

Published

I recently applied for a job and I was told I met qualification for the position. However, I have to complete a medication exam and clinical(med-surg) exam before my applicaiton is forwarded to the dept. Anyone has any idea where I can find study material for these exams. Is this the new trend for nursing jobs?

Hello everyone!! has anyone taken the pre-employment RN exam? If so, would you be able to provide an example for me of the types of questions in the med admin portion of the exam? Very nervous! Thanks SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!!!!

I had a couple of jobs and some of them required all new hires to pass tests. One had a really hard medication test - they gave a study guide to everybody because people were just failing left and right.

One place made me do a paper test that included math as well as general nursing questions...

Another one even asked for college math level problems to be solved.

It is worth to study the most 100 common meds and typical problems like how do you draw up a mix of regular and NPH insulin. Or how much bumex can you give as a drip in 24 hours - stuff like that.
