Hi everyone!
I am new to this forum. I am currently an adult medsurg/tele nurse of 8 years and got an informal (on the spot) job offer for a school nurse position in a public school grades 1-4. I would be working with another RN and an LPN. My interview was held at an off location office, so I have not even seen the school or the office area that I will be working in, and I have no idea who these other 2 nurses are. Do you think I should call the woman who interviewed me to ask for a tour of the school and nurses office at least, or does it not really matter in the long run? It is a well funded public school (low income area, but I know well funded). It may be one of the older buildings but I'm not sure.
Another issue I have is that I am registered to start grad school in the Fall (NP program, 1 class at a time). Do you think it would be crazy to start a new position Monday-Friday and take 1 night class per week 5-8pm? I just finished my BSN so I'm not a stranger to juggling school work and full time work and writing papers (although I absolutely hate it...). I also have a 9 year old, which is one reason I want the position, to be more on his schedule and none of the weekends/holidays.
What are your thoughts on these questions? I have so many worries but I feel that deep down I really want to take the position!
Also the pay is roughly the same as my hospital job, where I am working 32 hours 2 12's and 1 8. Only with the school nurse I get about 8 weeks off in summer, 2 during Christmas, 1 in Feb and 1 in April, and all those Monday holiday's off!!!
