Post-partum preelcampsia/eclampsia: Important Article!

Please take a couple of moments to read this important AllNurses article over in the OB section:

 

This is a condition that ED nurses can tend to not know much about and not have much (or any) experience with. Yet these patients WILL present to the ED and we will either overlook them (possibly to their demise) or, if we are knowledgeable, will recognize the seriousness of the situation. This patient is ESI 2 at the least.

Everyone should be encouraged to see the big picture in cases like these, even if the blood pressure is not something that would typically alarm an ED nurse.
