Seattle University APNI Program 2018

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

I'm interested in applying to the APNI program at SU. I've been reading a lot of the forums from other years, and have found it's quite competitive! I would love to hear from other people, and their track. Or if someone is in the program and has any advice about what they like in an applicant. Thank you!

Hello,

I am currently in the program and SU.

The APNI-DNP program is designed for non-nurses. RN or BSN

This is because the first year of the program, the APNI year, we study to become RNs and to take the NCLEX.

You can apply just for the DNP portion if you already have your RN license.

Hey, we were accepted with 10 of us in the CNM cohort.

i read in previous threads that emails to recommenders aren't sent until the application is submitted. Is it different this year? The application seems to imply that emails are sent once the names are saved.

If I remember correctly, last year you needed to have your recommenders submit their letters by the application due date.

For those of you asking about the essay, I think mine was 2.5 pages long, double space and 12 pt font. Last year there wasn't a firm rule about essay length, just format and content.

As you write your essay, think about why your passionate about this path. Why do you want to practice within the nursing model of care? How will your career help promote racial, social, economic and reproductive justice? Be truthful and speak from the heart.

Also! Don't forget to look at all the prior year's forums. A few years in particular have excellent advice.

And finally, for those of you considering the community track, make sure you really look at the information available about the scope of practice for this type of DNP. It is unique in that it does not involve the same dx and Rxing authority.

Thanks for the feedback! But Do the emails to our recommenders send after we submit the application or after we save their names (before submission)?

I think they send after you save their names and actually request that an email be sent to them. In other words, before you submit your application.

Hey everyone! Just submitted my application...now the wait begins...

Hey, just submitted my application too! Eager to hear back :) I applied to the Nurse midwifery track.

It was a tough decision between the community health and family NP track, but I chose NP :)

I sent my application in on November 1st, and I applied to the FNP program. I would've preferred AGAC-NP but they don't offer that, unfortunately. Do any of you know how many they typically accept for the FNP program?

I'm not entirely sure, but Chelsa from admissions told me interviews typically take place mid-Feb...

From past cohorts, that timeline looks about right.

Hi everyone! I just submitted my application for FNP. Does anyone know if we need to submit all transcripts from the enrollment history list (i.e. high school, running start)? Or just the transcripts from the last 90 qtr/60 sem credits + transcripts with prerequisite coursework?
