LMU/ROANE clinical info

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hello, I need to know what the clinicals are like at the two different schools. I heard ROANE only has 1 the first semester?

I am working full-time, no kids at home, so I am going to continue to work and attend a NP. Can you tell me how many days you are at the hospital doing clinicals. Thanks

I really want to continue to work, if I can go thru breast cancer treatment, finish my BA in Accounting, and continue to work full time I know I can do this:monkeydance:

If you mean Roane State then, yes, we have 1 clinical day a week for the first semester and you spend about 5 hrs at the hospital each time, plus an hour at post conference back at the school. I leave on clinical days around 2:00pm (I have to be at the hospital at 8:00am). You would also have 2 class days 9:00 am to 2:30 pm and a lab day 8:00am to 2:00 pm.:balloons:

At LMU, clinicals are 1x/wk the first semester, starting at 7a and ending around 2p. After that it's 2x/wk, roughly the same hours. Clinical rotations for specialities (peds, psych) may have different days/hours b/c of the shortage of facilities. You have to take what they give you. Your preceptor rotation the last semester (60 hrs in an area of choice), is your preceptor's working hours -- could be day, evening or night shift, weekdays or weekends.

BTW, you might get more responses if you post in the 'General Nursing Student' forum. I'm pretty sure this one's for grad students in master's, practitioner and doctoral programs. Good luck to you ...

I tried that and someone suggested I post here!!

Interesting. I wonder if they meant the 'Graduate Nurse Forum', which is for first-year nurses. It's a great forum.

You are probably right, I didnt read it that well, I just clicked on the link!!! I think you helped. LMU is 1x a week first semester, 2x a week second semester? Then your preceptors for the last semester? I think it goes from Spring, Winter, Fall and Summer? You are very helpful

Yes, once a week the first semester, twice a week for the second and third semesters, and the last semester is a 60-hour rotation with a preceptor at a hospital or similar setting. What semesters you attend depends on whether you're in the 2-yr or 18-month program.

I'm happy to help. I've been in your shoes, trying to get info and not being able to.
