Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello!

I just finished my bachelors degree in biology and have a 3.5 gpa. first of all, is that a competitive gpa to get into an accelerated bsn program? Second, and most importantly, does anyone have any recommendations on where I should work to solidify my application? I was previously a pre-dent student and have switched over to nursing. Thus, I have no previous work experience in this field but have all of my pre-reqs completed.I applied as a scribe to get some experience in a hospital and plan to also do some volunteering.

I'm a second degree pre-nursing student who has been rejecting to absn programs due to a low undergraduate gpa ( mine was really low under 2.5 ouch). Therefore, I have to go the asn route. I applied to tons of absn programs and I have friends that have been accepted. I believe your gpa is competitive but it really depends on the applicant pool at the time. I've worked in the medical field for about ten years as a medical secretary ...if you can get a job in some typee of medical facility I think its great. My observation is that they consider overall gpa, community service, pre req gpa, science gpa, essay, and recommendations. Most don't even mention work history. Although it could be helpful personally, i wouldn't sweat it. Since its an absn program they know most applicants will be from completely different walks of life.. : )
