possible relocation from a recruiter

Published

Hello All,

I have a phone interview for a nursing position in Modesto CA next week. Currently I live in Massachusetts and therefore would mean a relocation. I know there are a lot of nursing position scams out there and I am hoping that this is not one of them. They have not asked me for any money and have stated that they would send me an e-mail with confirmation numbers for my flight, rental car, and hotel room if the phone interview went well. If all goes well then my next concern would be where to live. My two sons would be going with me so I would need a safe place to live. If anyone has any information I would sincerely appreciate it. Thank you

What company ? How did you find them? I have done travel nurse and now do locum tenens. What you describe seems like the usual procedure for a permanent job. That they will fly you out, get you a car rental, and hotel. Read whatever you have to sign. Are you under obligation to take the job if the fly you out for the interview? The company would probably help you with housing .

It is certainly not unheard of - for nurses with highly sought-after skills - to be recruited this heavily. What is your specialty & what type of job is this? It's a strange world today; new grads struggling to find even a toe-hold that will help them begin their careers while positions that require highly specialized skills/expertise are going begging. Crazy.

The company is a recruiting company ( Caan and Associates). They sent an advertisement looking for OR nurses. I have not been asked to sign anything at this point. They also have said that they would help with finding my family housing. I have heard that Modesto is

not a very safe place to live. With this day and age there really isn't

a very safe place to live.
