Hi
I have lots of things happening at home, one of my children had major surgery and then became seriously ill for 4 months, another child has just been diagnosed with a potentially serious illness. I have been fine in fact going to work has been a release, I have made sure I am very proffesional at work and can switch off from home when at work on a busy ward. Recently though I have been told of big changes at work that affect me hugely, moving ward a different hospital further away from home etc.
This seems to be the final straw for me I am crying a lot and very unhappy:crying2: I know I should go off sick but I am worried about my sick leave, (i havent been off for myself only because of the children) what does anyone think? I had a short term sickness review about 3wks ago I had, had 2 wks off when my child had her op and 1wk later on in the recovery stage. So unhappy I am looking for another job too so I have to consider how my sick record will look too aarrgghh this is how I feel. Thank you for any replies.:)

That's sad news. It sounds difficult. I have no answers. You have a British flag, are you in the US? If you are in the US, did you look into FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act)? You need to take care of yourself, too. Maybe you actually need time off work for yourself, ...now?
What about your labor union? Do you have one? Did the reason for your sick leave come up in your review? ...Kind of not nice if they weren't understanding, hmm.... Try this, ...left hand on right shoulder, right hand on left shoulder, ...and hug. I hope things get better for you, soon.
From an unqualified perspective, it sounds like you're experiencing some kind of stress. But I don't know. Why leave yourself with an unanswered question in regard to PTS? It may create more stress - living with the unknown. It's OK to look for an expert's opinion. If you think it'll help, go see a councelor and see what they say. Which ever country you're in, a counselor may know of legislation that supports an unpunished, leave from work. It's "OK" to ask for help. It takes strength, to ask for help.

Wow! That is a lot to handle. It seems like you may have to take some time to yourself regardless of your sick leave evaluation. You have to stay well to keeep going like you do. I wish you well and think that some time to yourself may clear your mind some and give a chance to think about your options and make some decisions to improve your situation. Good Luck to you and good health to you and your family.:heartbeat
Hi thanx i'm from the UK don't have FMLA but did take a union rep with me to the meeting but did no good. Actually my child had to be readmitted today... so prob will need a couple of wks off and seeing a counsellor from work next week which will be some support. :thankya:
