It is like a dream to me. Coming from a long line of educators, one of my LPN school teachers approached me about teaching LPN clinicals. She said I needed to either have my BSN or be currently enrolled in a BSN program. I have decided to take classes at Univ. of Phoenix online. I not only desire my Bachelor's but also a Master's.
The job would be at a junior college but I'm unsure of clinical sites. I currently work weekends at a local nursing home and my specialty is geriatrics so I don't think I should be assigned to a hospital just yet. I would rather "wet my feet" in a LTC facility. I'm excited, but also cautious. I want to be the best teacher I can be and look forward to challenging students' minds.
One question I have is that...are most clinicals day shifts? Also, do you get to choose from a selection of clinical sites or do you go where assigned?
I'm sure I'll have more questions, but these are a good start...any advice appreciated!
Blessings, Michelle

Hi Michelle,
I am not sure about the junior college that you will be working. But this last semester I took a position at a community college as an adjunct for clinical. All clinical in that particular school were day shifts (8-1) for 2 days a week. The other available time were 8 hrs day shift on the weekend. I understand that because of your expertise you rather work at LTC facility instead, nut sometimes the rotations are so fast that you will go to the hospital.
Best of lucks in your new career,
