Possible CNA student in MA & questions of CORI Report

Published

Hello, This morning I took my assestment test with the MA Red Cross & got an A. I know they will do a CORI on me. Have done loads of reseach online & understanding that

in the medical field, especially with the clinicals my CORI is all important. For example a nursing home can look all the way back & for good reason.

I am straight as an arrow right now & have not drunk for 9 years. But I do have a DUI from 4/00 and another about 30 years ago. I talked to someone at Red Cross & she was not sure how to answer my questions. The Red Cross will look at my CORI & decide to train me or not. I go to meetings & have turned my life around considering drinking.

The real issue is will I be hired as a CNA with the DUIs on my CORI? Would my possible new employers could now that people can learn from their mistakes?

Should I follow my dream with possibility waste the $850 tuition. Or should I consider more of medical billing & coding. I was laid of of both of my day & eveing jobs back in April. If the Red Cross does train me they willtrain me as a CNA & Home Health Aid. Would that be any easier to get hired for? I would appreciate any opinions about my situation, especially if you're from MA & have had any similar situation. I would love to work in a rehab but have to find the jobs first.

Thank you in advance. Debra

Your states board of nursing or a lawyer would be the better place to ask these questions. No one on allnurses can give you such advice. Good luck to you.
