1. No, your life is NOT riding on this. You perceive that your life is riding on this. If you were to no longer practice nursing, then that's your higher power speaking to you and there's another plan for you. Don't overvalue Nursing. Nursing is a characteristic of the entire you. It's NOT the complete YOU. Don't ever forget that.
2. The obvious question needing to be asked is about information that you Obviously chose not to disclose in your post. Did you do drugs or alcohol? WHY the great concern right now over a positive drug test if you DID not use?
3. Every BON is different for Each individual nurse. If you have a positive test and you used, then you are obviously going to get more time. You know that is a given. That's automatic. The question is, will they revoke your license with 2 previous relapses. It's truly up in the air. It's not an automatic No or automatic Yes. Is the potential there since you have had 2 previous relapses while in monitoring? Obviously, you know the answer to that question is Yes. It's possible you keep it and possible you lose it.
4. You wrote that you are sober now and have a sponsor? What does that mean? Does that mean you are sober when making the post on this message board, but had a relapse one week ago or 2 weeks ago and had a drug test you are concerned about? Understand that being "sober now" is considered by monitoring programs as a Longer Length of Time than simply "one moment or one day." Being sober kind of means.......no drug or alcohol use for several months.
5. I hope you continue in recovery and stay strong. You got this. If you stay sober, things will work out for you automatically in the long term REGARDLESS of whether you remain a nurse or not.

My whole life is riding on this. And I had a moment of weakness. I am sober and clean now. But what happens if I do have a positive drug test. I've been kicked off TPAPN twice. I'm being monitored with the TXBON. Now I feel like this was my last chance. I go to meetings and have sponsor. Will they add time? Or is the license gone for good?
