Polk State College Fall '13

Published

Has anyone take the TEAS V yet for Polk State? I know you need a 65 to apply but I'm trying to see what score I need to be considered "competitive".

I took it for the first time today and got a 79.3.

I am an LPN going for the transition program but I have friends that are applying for the generic and we're all curious to know what score we should be "shooting" for.

Thanks in advance!!!

I cant speak for transition, but for generic I know the fall and spring semesters vary a little in their cutoff scores. I know several people got in with me this spring with 70-72. 79 is a pretty good score! :) I also think that transition is a little less competitive than generic. Good luck!

Thanks FDW630 for your quick response!! :) Good to know about who was accepted in spring...makes me a feel a little more comfortable with my score at least! lol

Not a problem. :) Are you in pharm now?

No, I took it in the fall :) lol glad to have that out of the way.

I just took my final this past Wednesday. Never been so happy to be done with a class!

I know the feeling! I was so excited to be done with pharm!! :)

Hey FDW630! I was officially accepted into the transition program! :)

I have a question about the clinical uniform.....particularly about the shoes! What does everyone wear? I know they have to be white or black but could they be like black nike's or are the instructors more strict than that?

Just curious lol I gotta go uniform shopping soon...

Congrats! :) I think it depends on the instructor, but most everyone wore either the basic nurse mates or some sort of sneaker/walking shoe. I have nurse mates because I didn't know what they allowed so I played it safe. Most of my clinical group wore sneakers. As long as they are all one color and leather, they don't seem to be too picky. I actually have a pair of all-white leather reebok walking shoes that I wore once to lifecare. They didn't fit my freakishly wide feet so they didn't work. You're welcome to them if you'd like! They're a 9.

Also, Garretts by winter haven hospital sells our tops with the patch already sewn on, and Polk students get a small discount. I got mine for $15 each. :)
