It could be because you had very little experience as a floor nurse (spaced on two different units?) and then have spent almost a year without doing any floor nursing at all. Hospitals may feel that you would need a proper orientation before you'd be able to function independently. They may be finding it fairly easy to fill those weekend options with more experienced nurses. I know those jobs aren't easy to get into right off the bat around here because a lot of nurses like them.
Have you considered following up on those applications or asking what you could do to make yourself a more marketable candidate?

Greetings fellow nurses,
I have been a nurse for 1.5 years. I became a nurse after getting a masters in health administration. I have 7 months acute care experience and the rest has been nursing administration in a long-term care facility.
To the point, I have submitted numerous resumes for weekend option at several hospitals in the DC Metro Area- not one response! I have critical care and rehab experience in those 7 months. I am willing to work ANY unit.
Did I miss something or are hospital becoming very selective. I was at Hopkins Hospital albeit less than a year, but can someone tell me what I am missing. FYI, I do not want to do an internship for new grads. I just want my weekend option. In a normal paced unit. It does not have to be highly specialized. If you know of hospitals offering weekend option please let me know.
