I can't remember If I pay 300-500 for PNA membership when I get my certificate for board rating and passing when I passed last june 07 nle..i only payed for certificates and license..not for membership..My license will be expired on 2010..so for two years I'm not member of PNA..IS it mandatory??what are the benefits??advantages??is It needed in applying in a hospital..Im not working in a hospital yet..If it is mandatory??Can I apply for membership when I renew license in 2010??? any idea??

PNA membership is not really mandatory. I was not a PNA member last year. I just had my membership this year because the hospital where I work with requires it. Anyway... All we need to do is pay and they'll process if for us. I also know some RNs who's not a member. I haven't heard hospitals requiring it when applying for a job. PNA membership renewal is every year.
The advantages and the disadvantage? Honestly speaking I only know few reasons because these infos are not properly dessiminated by the PNA.

I was wondering the same thing.. i have been a member of the PNA for 3 yrs now, yet I don't know the benefits and advantages.. Except that every hospital I applied for required a PNA membership.. Guys, enlighten me, please! thanx..

One benefit i know is that when you are a member you'll be able to filll up a form that ask what organization you are in. Can't think of other benefit it has.
Also,members get P50 discount in seminars.... :)
According to Philippine Nurses Association These are the BENEFITS.......>>>>>
1. Obtain professional advice or assistance in matters related to nursing and conditions affecting the practice of the profession;
2. Attend meetings, accredited CPE seminars workshops, conferences, and other educational activities sponsored by PNA. 3. Avail copies of the Philippine Journal of Nursing; 4. The beneficiary/beneficiaries receive death benefits through the Mutual Aid Program; 5. Receive legal and moral assistance in administrative and labor cases whenever possible; 6. Be recommended (If qualified) for local and international scholarship, nursing award or travel grants; 7. Access to Education and Training Center (ETC), auditorium, library and dormitory facilities; 8. Receive Professional guidance for work overseas.
