I was told it's not suggested to work while attending this nursing program for 20months at pima medical institute. I really love the school but how do people not pay their bills for 20months??

Hi @Shadow_wolf . This is unrelated to your question but I wanted to ask if you went ahead with PMI's ADN program? I'm looking to relocate to finish my RN and PMI is my #1 option right now..
@GuamLPNtoRN . Thank you for your question, I am currently enrolled in the ADN program at PMI as a Junior. I do apologize in advance due to the extended reply.
For me, my family was concerned with the cost of the program but they're really good with working out payment plans, if I can attend then anyone can :) . This medical school is very intimate with small classes of about 50 students and the teachers really do care about all of their students. The teachers are aware of when a student is struggling with their grades and they make an extroardinary effort to help each and every individual succeed. The program director is also very good at doing anything she can to help, even if you just need someone to talk to.
I've chosen PMI for all of my education such as: Phlebotomy, CNA, and of course RN. This medical school allowed me to get my foot into the door of the medical profession and gather years of experience under my belt as I was trapped in retail and customer service, noone would hire me in the medical field without going back to school. It is a fast moving course because the teachers really get down to the meat and cut out all the fluff like chemistry and prereqs were completed in 16 weeks.
Currently, I'm in pathophysiology, psychology, medication administration, and clinicals for semester 2. We are currently learning concepts like oxygenation, performing assessments, auscultating heart/lung sounds and I'm excited for EKG readings to get my PALS certificate. I'll be very honest, it takes a lot of hard work and excellent time management. I've heard and seen many students get frustrated with themselves, including myself learning how to write nursing notes during midterms and It's not for everyone, but there is always a choice to stay or leave.
I work 24hrs per week and it's ok, but in order to pay my bills I need a change, the good news is that more and more opportunities open up for us as we progress through the program like CNA sem 1, Patient care tech/Monitor tech sem 2 & 3, or even an entry level anethetist at sem. 4. As a nursing student, jobs hire because their goal is to have their employees move up within the company. I highly recommend a PRN position while attending that way you can turn down shifts if needed for testing. What's your highest priority after all? Keep your eyes on the prize because you will question yourself as to why you're really wanting to be a nurse. Whatever it is, make sure it's good enough to be remembered by. Money is not the right answer for this type of job, there will always be other jobs that pay more... but there will never be a nurse as unique as us.

@Shadow_wolf Hi, I'm looking into going to PMI for ADN. I was wondering what you can tell me about the acceptance/ enrollment process. I have no medical background or experience. will that affect my chances of getting in? Are there a lot of applicants? anything you can share about the interview.
Thank you!
