hi every one, please can some one tell me their experiences in elcentro college. actually i registered for a sumer class to begin my journey into the nursing program. i've just decided to take all my classes there, inorder to gain an upper hand. can that help with me taking all my prereq in elcentro? what re the chances for me getting accepted into the nursing program proper? any tips will help, thnx u all in advance!

I don't know about that college in particular, but I doubt you will get any "points" for taking your prereqs at the college you want to enter the nursing program of. That's not the case here anyways.

I know of a school in my area that awards a few extra points to the GPA for taking prerequisites at their university. Something like .4 points.

But it was clearly stated on the website. If there isn't an official program like that, I don't think it'll help to do prereqs there.

thank you both!

I don't know much about El Centro in particular, but my university is in Texas also and ranks applicants using a point system. Those who complete their prereqs there are awarded more points, it's not a huge different but it's something like an extra .25 or .5 for each prereq completed there as opposed to somewhere else. I would try looking at their website and if you don't see the info needed there, I would call.

thanks shorty11, I do appreciate that!

El Centro does not give extra points for doing classes at DCCCD.

Check out the info packet for their specific points/ranking system:http://www.elcentrocollege.edu/Program/Health/_docs/packet/2011FA/ADN%2012-13%20revision%20for%202013SP.pdf

I just graduated from the El Centro program, the nursing classes were the first, only, and LAST classes I will ever take there!

I have been so depressed for the past few months. For some reasons, i dont know why i couldn't pass the accuplacer reading comprehension. I decided to take a diff route, by taking the THEA, which is a pen and paper text. Guess what, i passed....with a score of 250. Now i can begin my journey on taking my prereqs for the nursing progm. Therefore, i highly recommend anyone who has tried the accuplacer and cannot pass it, should try taking the THEA. I cann't wait to start my classes. Am super excited! I' read some encouraging post here. It's so inspiring! Knowing that am not alone on this. Thank u all for being honest to your situations which made me to carry on.
