Hi, all.
I am a student at state university and majoring in nursing (planning to get BSN).
However, I see no chance to get into the BSN program.
I recently realized that how stupid and lazy I am.
I was international student but got green card, and now I see what is real.
My parents are depending on me that when would I graduate and when would I be a nurse then make some money....
I am thinking of two options that are...
one is
-wait another year and use the year to replace some grades to make higher or better chance to get into BSN program
(but the thing is that even though I would have great GPA eventually, can't be sure that I would get into the BSN program since my school is picking only 40 students out of hundreds applicants up)
another one is
-do LPN program and then do the bridge program which is LPN to BSN.
(for this option, LPN requires some prerequisite courses which are microbio, anatomy 1&2... the problem is that even though I am a pre-nursing student, my school (it is a state university!! ugh) does not have anatomy and physiology with lab classes at all....)
-so to do the LPN, I need to go to some school that is not asking me for prerequisite courses.
actually, realistically, doing LPN is more realistic to be BSN nurse eventually.
However, to do the LPN, I need to start right this coming spring semester......
Please give me some advice and if you guys know some schools that are not requiring pre courses to do the LPN in MD area, Please, Please PLEASE, give me that info....
Please help me.....
Now I see my parents' sincere heart and all the supports for me....
please give me some advices...

Ive researched most schools in the state of maryland that have nursing programs. There are none that I know of that does not require prereqs, at least for all ADN and BSN programs. From what I see about LPN programs, its the same. Most require prereqs. LPN may not require as MANY prereqs but there are prereqs for all nursing programs. Good luck!

first off, do not let anyone depend on you for anything because the pressure will become overwhelming which will result in poor grades and decision making. so focus on what you want to do with your life and what you want to make out of it. remember to take one-step-at-a-time.
i am thinking of two options that are...
-wait another year and use the year to replace some grades to make higher or better chance to get into bsn program
(but the thing is that even though i would have great gpa eventually, can't be sure that i would get into the bsn program since my school is picking only 40 students out of hundreds applicants up)
it depends on the policy of the school inwhich you want to attend...different school has different requriements. to get into a bsn program requries a lot and it is very competitive. some bsn program do not allow certain pre-req courses be taken more then once; they also look at you overall gpa and pre-req gpa; entrance exams score; and a few other competitive requriements. you first need to look at the school you want to apply to and read about their requirements. don't quote me on this, just make sure you speak with an advisor at the school inwhich you want to attend.
-do lpn program and then do the bridge program which is lpn to bsn.
this can be a good option if you grades are not that great, and some schools will requrie that you get into an lpn program before you can apply to their nursing program. just make sure you speak with an advisor at the school you choose to discuss your options and their requirements.
(for this option, lpn requires some prerequisite courses which are microbio, anatomy 1&2... the problem is that even though i am a pre-nursing student, my school (it is a state university!! ugh) does not have anatomy and physiology with lab classes at all....) it doesn't have to be at your school; you can transfer or take them at a community college. i recommend this because you save money and there are many options in course you would like/want to take.
-so to do the lpn, i need to go to some school that is not asking me for prerequisite courses.
unless it's a private school. also, becareful becasue some nursing school make not accept some/any of the credits so, make sure to find out if the school is accredited. and before you can transition from and lpn program to an rn program the school may requrie that you complete the pre-req courses before you apply; and if you don't you will not be qualified. again, speak with an advisor at the school you choose to discuss your options and their requriements.
actually, realistically, doing lpn is more realistic to be bsn nurse eventually.
however, to do the lpn, i need to start right this coming spring semester...
also, check out the adn programs, but then again if your grades are poor then stick with plan b (lpn).
please give me some advice and if you guys know some schools that are not requiring pre courses to do the lpn in md area, please, please please, give me that info....

now i see my parents' sincere heart and all the supports for me.... chillax and take one-step-at-a-time.
