Please help me understand this Questions from the Leik certification book

Published

I got this questions and answer from the Leik certification book. I don't understand the rationale. According to me, the answer should be D because the patient is positive for hepatitis A virus. I have put the answer with the rationale below.

233 . A 19-year-old female has recently been diagnosed with acute hepatitis B. She is sexually active and is monogamous. She reports using condoms inconsistently. What would you recommend for her male sexual partner who was also tested for hepatitis with the following results: HBsAg (−), anti-HBs (−), anti-HCV (−), anti-HAV (+)?

A) A hepatitis B vaccination

B) Hepatitis B immunoglobulin

C) Hepatitis B vaccination and hepatitis B immunoglobulin

D) No vaccination is needed at this time

Answer with rationale:

C) Hepatitis B vaccination and hepatitis B immunoglobulin Hepatitis B vaccination is given for long-term prophylaxis treatment to prevent hepatitis B infection. Hepatitis B immunoglobulin is given for prevention of hepatitis B infection when the person has been directly exposed to the hepatitis B infection. The immunoglobulin is not a vaccine and does not protect against long-term prophylaxis.

it's asking about her PARTNER, who by the serology above is negative and not vaccinated so should be vaccinated and also has been exposed so needs Ig

Richied,

What you said makes sense. I forgot that the female has acute hepatitis B. So we would not want the partner to acquire hep B through her. He is not immune to hep B so therefore he should be given hepatitis b vaccine and also the immunoglobulin since he is having unprotected sex with the partner who has acute hepatitis b. Did I explain this right?
