Please help me

I've been a R.N. for 7-8 year's. Of those 7-8 years I've tried to be pro-active to improve nursing care. I'm only one person--and nursing condition's continue to decline. (though I know a lot of nurses are proactive too)

I speak with administration of my concern's. Switch jobs when I don't feel comfortable with the nursing conditions.

I finally found a local hospital known to have the "best" nursing condition's. And I have to agree it's better then other local hospitals. But since being there in January I've noticed a decline--one unit we're taking care of more patients, I.V. team is gone, sitter's are not allowed, they had 2 secretaries now they are down to one secretary. (ect.)

Nurses are getting burned out--as am I. Honestly I will not stay in nursing if the condition's stay or continue to decline. But I want to continue to fight for patient's rights.

I have always E-mailed people about my concern's--state representative--newspaper's encouraging them to write about nursing conditions--or if a newspaper has written an article I commend them for their support and voice to please continue writing similar articles.

Who else can I voice my concern to? How else can I be more effective in advocating better care for patients? Thanks for your help!!!

You know first hand the problems. You are intelligent. You can write. It is all well and good if a reporter writes about these issues. However, if you write it yourself it will carry a lot more weight than if a reported writes it.
