Please Help!

I don't want to make any bad decisions so if you have any input please help! I just completed my CNA course and I'm now State Certified. I want to work in the hospital but I'll take whatever I can get right now. So far I haven't really found any jobs in MI but I'm sure I can find something in LTC or Assisted Living. Anyway, my plans are to go through the nursing program at the local community college (haven't started yet-looking to start winter 07)) and get my AD and become a RN. However, I need to make money to support my family in the mean time.

So, I was wondering if it was benefical (or a waste of money) for me to take an online course to become a Patient Care Technician through Allied Health Institute. It's 4mos online and one month of clinicals. Upon completion I can take the following exams:

National Certified Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)

National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT)

National Certified ECG Technician (NCET)

Nationally Registered title of Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NRCPT)

Nationally Registered title of Certified EKG Technician (NRCEKG)

Has anyone taken this course? Is it possible to be trained on the job for these skills? I don't want to spend any unecessary money. Should I just focus on the RN program? Thank you for any input.
