PLEASE HELP ME... Vermont or New Jersey?

Hello everyone.This website is the best and I am so amazed!

I passed the Philippine local board exam held last December 2006 and now I want to take the NCLEX.But I am so confused.

I have read the interesting threads here and I have reached the extreme point of confusion about applying to the Vermont or New Jersey BON.

My twins sisters who are both RNs live in New Jersey and I want to live and work there too. But NJ won't give a license if you don't have an ssn.And they require TOEFL AND CGFNS CES for the application. THE TOEFL EXPIRES AFTER 2 YEARS,RIGHT? So what happens if I am not in the US yet after 2 years, that TOEFL result becomes invalid even if I do pass the NCLEX?

And about Vermont.If for example, I do get a license from Vermont, and after 2 or 3 years, it has to be renewed .How will I renew it if I don't have an ssn yet? And will Vermont allow me to endorse the license to New Jersey if I don't have an ssn yet?

The main question is. Should I choose Vermont or New Jersey? PLEASE HELP ME. PLEASE. PLEASE. I am so confused.

You select a state based on where you wish to work. If your goal is to work in NJ, why don't you just go that route? You are still going to need to meet those requirements to endorse. They will not even look at your application until you have gone thru the CES process.

Any English result expires in two years if you do not have the Visa Screen Certificate in hand.

And to renew any RN license in the US, you must have a SSN#.

There is no reason to focus on having a hard license, it is not needed until you are in the US in the first place as you cannot use it without a SSN#. The hard license is not required to go thru the immigration process, only proof that you have passed the NCLEX-RN exam.
