!!!Please help!!!! lincoln tech orientation for new students

U.S.A. New Jersey

Hello Everyone! I have some questions about Lincoln Tech in Paramus,NJ. I start 9/28 full time. Of course I am super excited!! :D Super anxious too!!! :lol2:

Here are my questions for people that have already attended or attending:

-What should I expect for orientation and how long is it? Do I need to bring anything with me besides a notebook?

-As for sneakers,do they have to be 100% white? I am looking into a really good pair like the Nike Shox. Most brands do not have all white...some have black bottoms,or silver or something like that.

-What supplies do I need to purchase, besides normal stuff like pens and what not?

-Can we get our books before orientation and how many books are we going to need at a time?

-Do we need any books outside of what is included and what do you suggest I get?

-How much homework will I have a day??

-Any other good study tips and or tips for class everday??

Thanks everyone for reading and taking the time to answer me if possible. :)

Oh yea and Yes there is a microwave for us in the student caf...kinda wish it was bigger though...bc theres no where else to eat if you cant find a seat. They are very strict about eating and drinking in class too. You will get into trouble if they spot you even a water bottle isn't allowed! So keep it in your bag lol.

Hi ! How was your weekend ? I did go shopping and got some supplies. I also got my long sleeve T-shirts at Old Navy ! I went to two Walmarts and neither had the "rolly backbacks " I will continue to search , if worse comes to worse I will go online .

So you also had help with funding from unemployment ? That's great . Every penny helps !!! Thanks for all the great tips . Oh Yeah I def searchhigh and low for bargains. my dollar store has many great items like sharpie markers, highlighters &POst Its . ( the real brand name , I was shocked ) I know exactly how you feel . I am a very emotional person . I cry on many commercials . My son laughs at me . But spending so much time in a nursing home now;I know now on the kind of nurse I want to be . A caring one , who loves her patients . I have seen so much BS and how some patients are treated . I want to make a difference.

OMG red sneakers . That is funny . That is great you got to copy another students study guide . ( wow I wish someone allows me to copy one ) I have taken many CPR classes in the past . So this will be a breeze for me . Hey maybe we can get a chance to meet on Friday .

I might take a ride one day this wk to the Nike outlet in the mall and see for sneakers . I just spent so much $$ in this store for my son's two pair of sneakers for school . If it wasn't for clinicals and needing that comfy support all day . I would go to Payless and get a cheapie pair of sneakers. I have sneakers here that are kinda new but not all white . UGH...

Wow 30min for lunch . Just enough time to heat it up and swallow .. LOL !! I plan to pack a lunch everyday . Do not have that kinda $$ to buy lunch daily.I already started planning ideas for dinner for at least 4nights while I amin school. Fridays nights can be Pizza night or something . After a long week . How crazy am I planning so far in advance, but I have always been like this . I know as a single mom I will not have this kinda time then.

Well talk you soon .. Take care and Good Luck !

Hello! So sorry I have not responded. It has been pretty busy since I started school. I hope you are doing good in preparing yourself. It is great to hear that you want to to be a nurse that cares and loves your patients. It really is so important. I have seen a lot of crappy nurses for myself and it really makes you wonder what they are doing there. When you think of a nurse, you think of someone that cares and is nurturing. That is what everyone is looking for in us! Helloooo! LOL. Some nurses do everything by the book and don't stop and think if it is right for that individual. Its crazy!

The sneakers I bought are awesome! I got them at Sketchers. They were on sale for $30. They have an arch going on there and are really great! Any white sneaker will do....just as long you are comfy!

Since I started, I have come to realize that I need to relearn how to learn and study. It sounds weird, but it is true! There is a lot of info we do in a day and it goes fast. I thought that just reading would do the trick, but that is not the case. I have found that looking at videos on youtube has been a huge help for me! A&P is really hard! I thought I would be alright, but it has been quite a struggle. I think this week coming up I will do a lot better after figuring out what works best for me. So I am not telling you or anyone reading this post to scare anyone off from LTI. It is a great school. You just need to realize that you get what you put in. If you don't go and ask your instructor for help or show up for tutoring, it really will reflect on your grades if you are having trouble. Making sure you and your instructor have an understanding of your individual needs is very important. I wish I knew about the learning block that I would hit when I first started. But my advice is go onto google and look up learning style quizzes. Take a few and see what the result is. It will help you in the long run. For me seeing things is how I learn. Reading a book does not help me. I go onto Youtube and look up the topic. You would be amazed at all the things posted on there!! Especially for A&P. There is a great link on there that has someone dissecting and explaining the functions and you see it because the organ is there.

I hope I have been more of a help to you too. I might not answer right away, but I will answer you! = )

hi

I've been considering on attending LTI since I have passed the teas exam, but is it worth the fact that I'll be travelling about 1.5 hours from jersey since I don't have a car I have to take a bus? I have failed the teas exam at Eastwick and I don't want to wait another 30 days to take another exam since I wouldn't know if I will pass it. I called a Metropolitan, which is near my house but they do not when the next class begins and same thing as Mildred Elley. I don't want to wait anymore, I've waited long enough. The only option I have now is LTI. Although the tuition fee is $28k and the transportation is about 1.5 hours, at this moment that's my only option. Please help.

Hello. I will PM you. I don't want to say anything on here for the public to see. But I did not stay at LTI and wasted that $ and now I am elsewhere. The teachers and director at Paramus are really wonderful. The program is hard as any other nursing program is. I tried to keep pushing but once I did not make it past quarter 2, I was not investing my money or time further. That is only my opinion of this program personally. Some people do great, but unfortunately I did not. I will PM you in a minute.

hi thank you. I am not permitted to pm yet since I just started posting and don't have much posts yet.
